Fashion Trends We Predict Will Fade Out By Summer 2018

Each year, fashion trends change, some are even scrapped altogether.  We are presently in a time where our taste of fashion is inspired by celebrities and icons.  The current trend, as most of you probably know, is streetwear.  Streetwear was originally seen as cheap, baggy articles of clothing, representing the inner-city culture in the early 2000's.  Today, streetwear has an entirely new meaning.  Nowadays, streetwear typically consists of slim or skinny denim, usually distressed, along with a hoodie or tee shirt on top and a pair of clean sneakers on the bottom.  But as we approach 2018, we are starting to see a lot of current trends, slowly drifting out of sight and out of mind.  Here are the trends we predict will be abolished by summer '18.

The Yeezy Hype

Kanye West's Yeezy Boost sneaker by adidas is one of the highest selling pairs of shoes to date.  However, the Yeezy Boost has had its moment and people are getting tired of their stale, Yeezy filled Instagram feeds.  Lately, we have been seeing an uprise of retro sneakers, such as the Stan Smith's, the Iniki's, Jordan 1's, and even Champion's most recent sneaker.  From all of us here at Uncommon Culture, Rest in Peace, Yeezy!

Extended T-Shirts

Taking inspiration from the baggy clothes trend in the early 2000's, extended t-shirts have been a huge part of modern streetwear since about 2014.  An extended t-shirt is essentially a t-shirt with added length, usually cut in a rounded shape at the bottom, that gives an outfit a clean layering effect if worn beneath a hoodie or sweatshirt.  Although we still see a few people sport the extended tees, it is a trend that we expect to see fade away by summer 2018.

Multi-Layer Outfits

A popular trend in 2017 was to layer two or more articles of clothing on your upper body, for example, an extended t-shirt beneath a regular fit hoodie topped off with a distressed denim jacket.  We would occasionally see someone layer up to 5 garments on their upper body!  Although the fad did have an interesting look to it, it's not something we can see coming back next summer.

Sock Over Pant

If you browse Instagram when bored, chances are you've seen this trend appear multiple times on your feed.  The idea is essentially any type of pant, including denim, tucked into knee-high socks.  The point of this fad is to flex your hyped socks, but it's gotten old very quick and isn't a trend we think will return come 2018.
